Mondi has announced a partnership with Essity and Dow to produce recyclable packaging for essity’s feminine care product line. Essity is a leading global health and wellness company.
Mondi’s new design aims to reduce the use of fossil materials through the use of renewable and recycled materials and give new life to the by-products of recyclable raw materials. The new design also uses mechanically recycled components from post consumer recycled materials. They cooperated with Dow to produce a film bag.
This will be applied to Essity’s range of sanitary napkin packaging, including Bodyform, Libresce, Nana and Nuvenia. These products have been sold in bags made of 50% renewable materials, which is in line with Mondi’s packaging goal: strive to achieve 100% recyclability, and use up to 85% biomass, renewable or recyclable materials in all packaging bags, of which up to 25% are recyclable plastics. The advantages of the new packaging include light and moisture resistance, strong sealing performance and high printing quality.
Guosheng Zhang, global technician and innovation manager of Essity female care, said: “we are pleased to launch a new feminine care package, which reduces the carbon footprint and will contribute to our sustainable innovation. This solution demonstrates our commitment and Mondi’s commitment to the Allen MacArthur Foundation: strive to achieve full recyclability and increase the use of recycled plastic in packaging.”
